Bihar School Examination Board, Patna has released a notification regarding a new policy of passing mark and grace mark for both matric and Intermediate Students who are giving annual exam in 2023. The exam is going to end soon and after that, the process of result preparation will be started. In 2018 this policy was amended in bylaws of Bihar Board. According to the official notification of policy, in order to pass Class 12th Intermediate exam, students need to secure at least 30% of total marks in theory portion of each subject and 40% of total marks in a practical paper of each subject.
The Bihar Board has given great relief to the students of class 12th and Class 10th standard. Prior to the results, BSEB has decided to give Grace Marks to intermediate and Matric students. Those students who are failing in exam with 4-8 marks can now also be passed through this Grace marks. Prior to the Intermediate Result, Bihar Board has given issued policy for giving grace marks. Under this policy of Bihar Board, students will be given 10 percent Grace marks this time. However, if the student fails in language subject, no grace will be given.

Grace marks policy:Â According to policy If a student fails in one subject only by not more than 8% marks or in two subjects by not more than 4% marks in each, he/she will be given the marks he/she is short of. If someone has secured 75% marks in aggregate but has failed in one subject only by not more than 10% marks and cannot be allowed to pass under any other regulation, will be declared to have passed.
Highlights of notification: Separate passing in NRB/MB (Alt English, Urdu, Maithili) is essential.
A candidate who has obtained at least 75% marks in aggregate but has failed in one subject only by not more than 10% marks and cannot be allowed to pass under any other regulation, will be declared to have passed and division shall be determined accordingly.
The Result of a candidate offering an additional subject shall be determined on the basis of marks obtained by him in all the compulsory and in the three out of the four optional and additional subject taken together in which he has secured higher marks.
But Computer Science and Multimedia & Web Technology will not be interchanged. If a candidate is short of the minimum aggregate marks prescribed for 1st or 2nd Division by 5 marks or less, he/she shall be given the minimum marks required to make up the deficiency and shall be placed in higher division but the position in that higher division shall be determined on the basis of the original marks secured by him. In no case double benefit to regulation shall be allowed.
